MPD hunts down 9 suspects in slay of criminology student in Tondo
The Manila Police District (MPD) launched a manhunt against nine men who allegedly beat a criminology student to death in Tondo, Manila last Friday, Oct. 20.
Police identified the fatality as Randall Bonifacio, 20, a resident of Tondo.
Prior to the incident, police said the victim and his friends had a drinking session at Baluarte Bar and Restaurant on North Bay Boulevard in Tondo.
At around 5:10 a.m., the victim's group was about to go home when a group of unidentified men, without any reason, hit Bonifacio several times with hollow blocks.
The suspects immediately fled after attacking the victim.
Bonifacio was rushed to Tondo Medical Center, but he died around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, due to body injuries.
On the same day, the father of the victim told the police that his family will coordinate with the investigators after the burial of his son.
The MPD homicide section is now conducting a follow-up investigation in the area.
Police added that some of the suspects were already identified, but they withheld their names as the investigation is still ongoing.
