PLDT picked up where it left off, overwhelming Farm Fresh with another stellar play for a straightforward 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 victory as the High Speed Hitters moved to solo fourth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference elims at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Fil-Canadian Savi Davison went on another spiking binge against a scrambling Farm Fresh net defense, draining 13 attack points and finishing with 18 markers following a 19-point game in their equally one-sided three-set win over the Akari Chargers last Thursday.
Ranged against one of the league’s rookie teams, the High Speed Hitters hardly found resistance all throughout their 70-minute encounter until late in the third frame when the Foxies rallied to within, 16-18, behind Kate Santiago, Trisha Tubu and Alyssa Bertolano and a couple of PLDT mishits.
But the High Speed Hitters quickly recovered and closed out with a decisive 9-2 run to log their second straight victory after dropping a four-setter to the Cignal HD Spikers last week for solo fourth at 2-1 behind Creamline, Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo, which tote identical 2-0 marks.
“I’m happy to get the win. They performed well,” said PLDT mentor Rald Ricafort. “They have recovered from the small lapses from our first game.”
Honey Royse Tubino backed Davison with 12 points while Dell Palomata and Mika Reyes imposed their will in the middle and combined for 15 points. Erika Santos added five markers and Michelle Morente and Rachel Austero chipped in three and two points, respectively.
Top-scoring for the team for the third straight time, Davison insisted it’s a team effort, saying: “I couldn’t have done it without them. You know, working together with the team just makes it easier for me.”
“I’m just glad that I had them behind on the court supporting me and I just thought that we could work together so easily,” she added.
The High Speed Hitters expect to get better when they set out for a third straight victory over the Nxled Chameleons on Nov. 2 at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
“Slowly but surely, we’re connecting,” said PLDT playmaker Rhea Dimaculangan of their explosive reinforcement. The former UST ace setter finished with 10 excellent sets.
The High Speed Hitters finished with 45 attack points, nine more than the Foxies but, like the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers earlier, they dominated the net defense, finishing with seven kill blocks against none by the Foxies.
Santiago and Tubu combined for 21 points but Bertolano could only churn out a five-point game and Sofia Ildefonso and Justine Dorog added three points apiece for the Foxies, who reeled to their eighth straight defeat, including five in a winless initial PVL sortie in the Invitational.
