Cassava clash: Farmer shoots neighbor over livestock feud

CAVITE – A farmer allegedly shot his neighbor in Dasmariñas City over a livestock feud on Monday, Oct. 23.

Cavite Police Provincial Office identified the suspect as Eric P. Mailiksi.

Dasmariñas City Police Station (CPS) chief Lt. Col. Socrates S. Jaca told the Manila Bulletin that the suspect and the victim tend to farms adjacent to each other in Barangay Paliparan 1.

Initial investigation said the suspect got mad at the victim because the latter’s cow grazed on the former’s cassava plant.

During a heated argument, the suspect reportedly shot the victim in his right arm.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment and is now in stable condition.

The suspect, on the other hand, immediately fled the crime scene.

Dasmariñas CPS has launched a dragnet operation to arrest the suspect.
