11,148 troops deployed to secure BSKE in Western, Central Visayas


ILOILO CITY – The Army 3rd Infantry Division (ID) has deployed 11,148 troops to secure the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Western and Central Visayas.

“Our duty is to ensure the safety of our people and the integrity of the BSKE,” said Major General Marion Sison, 3rd ID commander.

Bulk of the deployment is Western Visayas with 6,741 with 4,407 troops for Central Visayas, mostly in areas with Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and New People’s Army (NPA) presence.

Troops came from Camp Peralta, the 3rd ID headquarters, the 301st Infantry Brigade (IB), 302nd IB, 303rd IB, Philippine Air Force, and  Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary.

The 3rd ID also mobilized its Quick Reaction Force (QRF) composed of 66 military officers, 721 enlisted personnel, and 155 CAFGU Active Auxiliary members.

Sixty mobility assets were strategically positioned in Western and Central Visayas provinces.

Most of its units are in Western Visayas but the 3rd ID also deployed soldiers in several provinces in Central Visayas.
