Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Monday, Oct. 23, noted Makati's high 2023 revenue to its continuous cooperation and communication to both local and foreign businesses and investors as the city continuous to maintain record-high revenue collection.

On Oct. 19, Makati City surpassed its 2023 revenue target by 13 percent and its business tax collection increased by 41 percent in the third quarter of the year, paving the way for the development and implementation of its enhanced social and economic programs and initiatives.

"Dahil sa masiglang revenue collection mas marami po tayong budget na pwedeng magamit para sa pag-e-expand at pagpapaganda ng serbisyo. Kampante ang mga Proud Makatizen na tuluy-tuloy lang ang libreng gamot, Project FREE, at iba pang natatanging social services na ibini­bigay natin sa mga residente, at climate action initiatives tulad ng paggamit ng solar panels at iba pang mga hakbang upang maisulong ang transition natin sa renewable energy. Malaya rin tayong makakapag-isip ng mas marami pang inobasyon para sa mas maayos na pamumuhay, pagta­trabaho at pagnenegosyo sa ating lungsod (Because of the healthy revenue collection, we now have more than enough budget that can be allocated for the improvement and expansion of our services. Proud Makatizens can now rest assured that their free medicines, Project FREE, other unique social services that we give to our residents, our climate action initiatives such as the use of solar panels, and other steps promoting our transition in the use of renewable energy will continue)," Binay explained.

She added that one of the keys to the city's growth and expansion is the importance of the city's good cooperation and communication with the local and international business sectors.

Binay, together with the ambassadors and delegates of China, Nigeria, Germany, Korea, Spain, the Czech Re­public, and Turkey, held its National Day Celebration which is one of Makati's programs aimed at strengthening ties with other countries and foreign local government units (LGUs).

The mayor had earlier met with executives of Ayala Malls Inc. to discuss the improvement and rehabilitation of their shopping centers in the Central Business District

"Bukod sa pagpapaganda ay gagawin nating mas eco-friendly ang mga mall sa Makati sa pamamagitan ng pagdadagdag ng green spaces. Sa ganitong paraan ay mas magiging sustainable ang mga establisimento natin sa Makati. Maraming layers at dimen­sions ang pagme-maintain ng growth at development ng isang lungsod, at napakaraming grupo at stakeholders na involved dito (Aside from making malls in Makati more beautiful, we will also make them more eco-friendly by expanding green spaces. In this way, establishments in Makati will be more sustainable. There are a lot of layers and dimensions in maintaining the growth and development of a city hence, the big number of people and stakeholders involved in it)," she noted.

According to the local chief, Makati has collected a total revenue of P20,051,906,452.22 as of Sept. 30, posting a 21 percent increase from the same period last year. On the other hand, its business tax collection also reached P11,211,357,657.95 as of end of September.

She added the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) has reported a total of 3,791 new registered businesses and 35,440 with renewed business permits as of end of September.

The new enterprises chalked up a total of P25.47 billion in capital investments, while total gross sales of existing businesses reached P1.65 trillion this third quarter.
