Senior high school student punched to death


BACOLOD CITY – An 18-year-old senior high school student died after he was punched by a 17-year-old boy in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on October 19.

Police Major Randy Babor, Binalbagan police chief, withheld the names of the suspect and the victim.

Babor said the suspect and the victim had an alleged misunderstanding from the “theme” of two groups. However, Babor said that he could not confirm the reason yet pending investigation.

Babor said that when the suspect chanced upon the victim, a commotion ensued and the suspect attacked the victim who fell and hit his head on the ground.

The victim was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here where he died.

Babor said the suspect surrendered to the police the following day. He was  turned over to the the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and may face homicide charges, Babor said.

The victim’s family is seeking justice for his death.
