Lyceum hopes to rediscover its winning ways when it battles Jose Rizal University to open the second round of the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Pirates eye to break a three-game losing skid in the 2 p.m. affair which will be followed by an equally competitive clash between Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals and San Sebastian Stags at 4 p.m.
More importantly, Lyceum is also seeking redemption against JRU which dealt it a heartbreaking 88-87 defeat in their first meeting behind a clutch Jonathan Menina’s floater.
The loss was one of the Pirates’ only three defeats after winning their first six games.
“Kung gusto namin manalo, gusto namin mag final four kailangan namin ibigay yung best namin gaya nung ipinakita namin sa unang anim namin na laro,” said Pirates skipper Enoch Valdez.
“Habang wala pa kaming napapatunayan, dapat trabaho lang kami,” he added.
Easier said than done however as the Heavy Bombers, sporting the same 6-3 record, are equally motivated to go for a Final Four push in the second round with main man Agem Miranda expected to lead the charge.
Likewise, both EAC and San Serbastian are looking to get back on the winning track in their own collision after suffering losses to close out the first round.
The Generals (5-4) aim to bounce back from a disappointing 86-72 loss to San Beda Red Lions while the Stags (3-6) hope to end a two-game slide.
