Dog rescued after 1 year of waiting outside Caloocan hospital for owner who passed away

A loyal dog who had been waiting outside a hospital in Caloocan City for more than a year for his owner, who had passed away, was rescued by a non-profit animal welfare organization.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), a non-profit and  non-government animal welfare organization (NGO) that aims to improve the living conditions of animals, rescued the dog named “Morgan” on Oct. 7.

According to the AKF,  they found out that the students, guards, hospital staff, and visitors named him Morgan as he typically stayed near the morgue area of the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital in Caloocan City while waiting for his owner who died last year.

They were informed by people at MCU Hospital that Morgan's owner had been hospitalized there last year due to Covid-19.

Unfortunately, Morgan’s owner died and since then, Morgan has never left the hospital. He has been waiting for his master for over a year, unaware that his beloved owner's death.

The organization stated in a Facebook post that Morgan was brought to their AKF Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Capas, Tarlac.

Morgan is now safe. His health was already checked by their veterinarian and he was provided with the utmost care to ensure he is in the best possible condition, AKF said.

They also added that in the upcoming weeks, he will receive vaccination and undergo neutering when he is ready.

However, AFK stated that Morgan is not currently available for adoption, but he will be in the near future.

Furthermore, the AFK expressed their gratitude to all the students, security personnel, and all hospital staff who generously provided Morgan with food each day.

They also added that the people made a compassionate choice not to report him to the animal control, understanding that capturing Morgan would likely lead to his euthanization.
