BSKE bet shot dead in Masbate City

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – A candidate for barangay councilor or kagawad was killed and a barangay captain was wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Maingaran, Masbate City, Masbate on Sunday afternoon, October 22.

Police identified the victim as Juvy Pintor, 44, a tricycle driver and candidate for kagawad of Barangay Maingaran.

The wounded, reelectionist barangay captain Joseph Martinez, 59, was taken to the hospital for treatment of bullet wounds.

Police said the victims, along with co-candidates, were attending the wake of their neighbor when the group of Dolores Inopia, also a candidate for barangay captain, passed by, resulting into a commotion between the two opposing groups.

At the height of the commotion, Inopia’s alleged supporters, Albert, alias "Pandak," Bongbong, Eddie, Friday, Ruel, alias "Bislong," Iraq Leo, Angelo, and Allan, drew firearms and shot the victims.

Pintor was taken to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in Masbate City where he was declared dead.

Police are pursuing the suspects who fled after the incident.
