21,694 security forces tapped to secure BSKE in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY – A total of 21,694 security forces from different law enforcement agencies have been deployed to secure the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Western Visayas on October 30.

“They will be deployed in the different areas of the region to secure a peaceful election,” said Dennis Ausan, Commission on Elections (Comelec)-6 (Western Visayas) director and chairman of the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (RJPSCC)-6.

These personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), 3rd Infantry Division (ID) of the Philippine Army (PA), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were deployed in a send-off ceremony in Camp Delgado, the Police Regional Office-6 headquarters in Iloilo City, on Monday, October 30.

Majority of the deployment came from the PRO-6.

Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, said that 12,486 were deployed to Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

Major Gen. Marion Sison, 3rd ID commander, said a total of 6,741 soldiers were deployed.

Two-thousand, four-hundred thirty-seven BFP and 30 PCG personnel were also deployed.

Their deployment is until October 31.

The RJPSCC-6 said there are 172 election hotspots in Western Visayas.
