Complaint center vs vote-buying in BSKE established in Laguna

CAMP GEN. PACIANO RIZAL, Santa Cruz, Laguna – The Laguna Provincial Police Office (LPPO) has created the Kontra-Bigay committee and complaint center against vote-buying in the barangay elections on October 30.

Laguna police chief Police Col. Harold Depositar cited Commission on Election Resolution No. 10946 issued on August 30, 2023, as basis for the creation of the facility.

“There is a strict prohibition against vote-buying under Section 68 of the Omnibus Election Code, as an election offense falls under Section 261, which says a candidate may be disqualified in the said election if and involved in vote-buying and selling,” Depositar added.

“We established a committee of Kontra Bigay along with the Kontra Bigay Complaint Center and related rules and regulations as part of our commitment to upholding the integrity of elections and ensuring the voters cast their ballots freely without any form of coercion,” he said.

Depositar urged the people to be part of the campaign by reporting incidents of vote-buying in Laguna to the Konta Bigay complaint center.

“This is our way of being vigilant and protecting the rights of our fellow citizens who care for our nation.”
