OFW Party-list Rep. Marissa "Del Mar" Magsino has "strongly condemned" the brutal killing of Filipino Mary Grace Santos in Jordan.
In a statement Friday night, Oct. 20, Magsino said that the suspect in the killing was a person of minor age.
(This abomination of a crime once again reminds us of the dangers that OFWs face in their work abroad and the need for is to give teeth to our policies that protect OFWs.)
Magsino says OFW Party-list condoles with Santos' kin.
(But we understand that simple condolences can only do so much to ease the grief being felt by Mary Grace's family.)
"Kaya’t ito’y matinding hamon sa ating pamahalaan na gumawa ng konkreto, komprehensibo, at pangmatagalang solusyon sa paulit-ulit na suliraning ito," she said.
(That's why it's a huge challenge to our government to take concrete, comprehensive, and long-term solutions to this persisting problem.)
She further said that the government must show its full force in ensuring that justice will be achieved in the killing of a defenseless countryman.
