COTABATO CITY – The Philippine Army has deployed additional troops to beef up security forces in the barangay elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

THE Army has deployed additional troops to maintain peace in the barangays elections in the Bangsamoro Autonumous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido has ordered the deployment of 1,000 Army personnel to augment the manpower of the 6th Infantry Division which has jurisdiction over the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Lanao del Norte in securing the conduct of the elections on October 30.
During a recent meeting with the Commission on Elections in BARMM, Galido assured that there will be no room for failure of elections in BARMM and the elections will proceed as scheduled.
Galido told the Comelec that the military will intensify its security efforts in collaboration with the Philippine National Police and other government security forces to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections in BARMM.
The additional soldiers arrived aboard a military aircraft on Friday, October 20, at the Awang Airport here to augment security forces in Central Mindanao.
Major Gen. Alex Rillera, 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central commander, said that the deployment of additional military personnel is a strategic move to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections in the region.
"This proactive stance is aimed at safeguarding the electoral process to demonstrate the commitment of the government to upholding democracy and maintaining law and order,” Rillera said.
He stressed that the collaborative effort of the military, police, and other security forces demonstrate the government's commitment to ensure a safe and fair electoral process.
"With these security measures in place, both the electorate and candidates are confident that the forthcoming elections will be conducted without disruptions wherein the people of BARMM can choose their local leaders freely and without fear," Rillera said.
