The Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) recognized the performance of the Pasig City local government’s healthcare services during the "Local Health System Recognition: 2022 Local Government Unit (LGU) Health Scorecard" program in Quezon City on Oct. 20.
The MMCHD said that the LGU Health Scorecard is a component of the Management Tool and Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for Republic Act (R.A.) 11223, known as the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act. Since 2008.
"It has been used as a primary tool to assess and monitor the performance of LGUs in the implementation of local health reforms within the province-wide and city-wide health systems (P/CWHS). It facilitates the reporting of LGUs’ progress in meeting the targets based on the priority programs, projects, and activities of the Department of Health (DOH)," it added.
Pasig City is one of the 17 LGUs in the National Capital Region (NCR) that received the plaque of appreciation.
The city also received a special award for its remarkable performance in the implementation of health sector reforms in the city-wide health system towards the achievement of universal healthcare in Metro Manila.
City Health Officer Dr. Joseph Panaligan led the delegation that attended the program and received the awards.
"Yung pag-implement po ng ating universal healthcare na kahit kami ay hindi implementing site, kami po ay nakakasabay (Even though we are not an implementing site, we are able to keep up and implement universal healthcare),”
Panaligan said.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is invested in developing the health sector as it is one of the city’s priority programs, Panaligan added.
"Kung mayroon po tayong dedicated na pulitiko ay isa po yan sa pinakamalaking advantage para po sa implementation ng ating universal health care (If we have a dedicated politician, that is one of the biggest advantages for the implementation of our universal healthcare)," he added.
Currently, the city's priority is the full implementation of universal healthcare in Pasig for its residents to receive the high standard of healthcare that they deserve.
The city is offering health services in four main centers with various specializations, such as the Pasig City Children's Hospital (PCCH); the Center for Dialysis, Health Lifestyle, Ambulatory Surgency, Maternity, and Newborn Care of Pasig City (CHAMP); the Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH), and the Hospice Home Care Program.
As part of the city’s universal healthcare, it collaborated with national programs to enact the initiative called "No Balance Billing Policy."
The initiative aims to ensure Pasigueños receive a high standard of care without being concerned about their hospital bills.
Through the billing policy, the city covers all expenses for residents who have been admitted to the two city-owned hospitals PCGH and PCCH.
