Caloocan survived a huge Pasig City scare and grinded out a 68-60 victory in Game 3 of their quarterfinals affair in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League playoffs on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

The Batang Kankaloo marched into the semifinals against the powerhouse Pampanga Giant Lanterns but it didn’t come without the anxious moments especially in the first half when Tropang Pasig surged ahead with the lead at the break.
Caloocan, though, came alive in the second half as Gabby Espinas and Joco Tayuntong provided the much-needed help to Jeramer Cabanag who kept the Batang Kankaloo afloat in the first half.
The Batang Kankaloo went on a 14-5 run in the final frame turning a 47-49 deficit into a comfortable seven-point cushion, 63-56, after a long two-pointer from Paul Sanga that sent the entire Caloocan crowd into frenzy with 2:07 left.
Espinas finished with 15 points and seven rebounds while Cabanag had 12 while also putting the clamps on Pasig’s Robbi Manalang which he limited to just 10 points after exploding for 23 in the series-tying Game 2.
Rey Peralta chipped in 10 while Jason Ballesteros’ good offensive night with nine points to go along with his 17 rebounds were put to waste as Tropang Pasig were forced to play without leading scorer and team captain Ryan Costelo after a technical foul for taunting and unsportsman-like behavior.
