Rains persist in parts of PH due to shear line, northeasterly wind flow
Two weather systems will continue to affect Central and Northern Luzon over the next 24 hours, bringing rains to parts of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Oct. 20.
The northeasterly wind flow, or the initial blast of cold breeze coming from the northeast, will bring cloudy and rainy weather to Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga.
PAGASA warned of flash floods and landslides there areas during moderate to heavy rains.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may also affect Ilocos Region and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the shear line and localized thunderstorms.
Shear line is an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds converge.
PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
