Police operation nets 3 suspects, over P3-M shabu, cocaine in Albay


LEGAZPI CITY – Over P3-million worth of suspected shabu and cocaine were seized in a buy-bust operation in Polangui, Albay on Friday morning, October 20, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-5 (Bicol) said.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said a total of 350 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P2.38 million and 130 grams of cocaine with a street value of P689,000 were recovered during the operation.

"The buy-bust operation Friday in Barangay Ubaliw, Polangui town in Albay resulted in the arrest of alias ‘Jorge,’ alias ‘Rod,’ and a minor, all residents of Bethlehem St., Barangay San Isidro, Paranaque City. They were arrested while selling 50 grams of shabu to a police undercover," she said.

Calubaquib said another 300 grams of shabu and 130 grams of cocaine were seized from the suspects during the body search conducted by the operatives.

"All seized pieces of evidence were marked and documented in the presence of a mandatory witness and brought to Polangui Municipal Police Station for proper handling and disposition,” she said. 

"The minor involved will be transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to undergo the necessary legal procedures."

PRO-5 Director Police Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque commended the dedication and commitment of the teams involved and reaffirmed the Philippine National Police's unwavering commitment to combat the drug problem within the region. (with PNA)
