Palestinian envoy mourns Filipinos killed in Israel-Hamas war
Palestinian Ambassador to the Philippines Saleh Mohammad has expressed his sympathy with the Filipino people over the death of four overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Israel following Hamas militants' attack on the Jewish state.
Mohammad said the Palestinian Authority is condemning the killing of the civilians in the Israel-Hamas war as it "contravenes" moral, religious and international laws.
"Let me... express my sympathy and condolences for those who lost their lives, and really, our heart is out, bleeds for them," he said in an interview with reporters on Friday night.
The envoy said he knew how difficult is the current plight of the families who lost their loved ones, and hoped that those who remain missing would be accounted for.
"We keep our fingers crossed for those who are still missing. That they will make it, and they are somewhere alive and waiting, waiting to be rescued," he said.
"I pray and please join me in the prayers that they will be back here to the Philippines," he added.
As one Filipino is believed to be taken hostage by Hamas and dozens of other nationalities are also reported abducted, Mohammad is still doubtful that Israel would stop attacking Gaza once the militant group releases their captives.
But he believed there would be a "different solution" for abducted foreigners before they would be let go.
