Marcial arrives home in Zamboanga City to a hero's arrival

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Boxer Eumir Marcial, 2023 Asian Games silver medalist, was accorded a hero’s welcome by the city government headed by Mayor John Dalipe when he arrived home here on Friday, October 20.

Marcial arrived via an early morning flight at the Zamboanga City International Airport where he was met by Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja here.

A motorcade in this city’s major thoroughfares followed where the people cheered the boxer, after which a program in front of the Zamboanga City Hall led by Dalipe was held, where Marcial was presented with a check for P300,000 representing his incentive under the city government’s sports incentive program.

He was also presented with a resolution of commendation from the Zamboanga City Council and a plaque of appreciation from the city government.

Marcial lost to China’s Tanglatihan Tuohetaerbieke via unanimous decision in the 80-kilogram division.

He is set to compete in the Paris Olympics next year after finishing in the Top 2 of his division in the Asian Games.
