Major transport groups in the country urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday, Oct. 20, to reinstate suspended Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III.
The “Magnificent 7” — comprised of transport groups PASANG MASDA, BUSINA, ALTODAP, ACTO, STOP & GO, UV EXPRESS, and LTOP — held a support rally for Guadiz in front of the LTFRB’s Central Office in Quezon City and called on Marcos to reinstate the suspended official, attesting to his credibility and competence as chief of the LTFRB.
“Bilang mga grupo na matagal nang sumubok sa serbisyo ng LTFRB, nananatiling buo ang aming paniniwala at suporta kay LTFRB Chairman Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III na hindi nagkulang sa pagbalangkas ng mga proyekto, programa, at hakbang para sa aming mga ordinaryong operator at tsuper (As groups that have been challenging the service of LTFRB for a long time now, our support and trust remain intact for LTFRB Chairman Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III, who did not fail to come up with projects, programs, and policies for us, ordinary operators and drivers),” said the Magnificent 7, which makes up 95 percent of the country’s transport sector.
“Mapagpakumbaba naming hinihimok si Pangulong Marcos na pakinggan ang tinig ng nakararami at ibalik si Chairman Guadiz para ipagpatuloy niya ang kanyang mga programa at proyekto para sa aming mga operator at mga tsuper (We are humbly urging President Marcos to listen to the voices of the majority and reinstate Chairman Guadiz to continue the programs and projects for us),” it added.
The Magnificent 7 also cautioned the public from believing the accusations against Guadiz, with STOP & GO noting that he was “actually one of the saving graces of the BBM administration.”
“Chairman Guadiz was the one who brought back the trust of the transport stakeholders and the public to the LTFRB,” the group stated.
“The STOP & GO TRANSPORT COALITION can attest to the integrity, dedication and sincerity of Chairman Guadiz in attending to all issues and concerns of different transport groups in particular and the public in general,” it added.
Marcos ordered the suspension of Guadiz over allegations of corruption under his leadership.
