Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes welcomed the reopening of the LTO district office, saying this will save people from too much hassles renewing or applying for a driver’s license.
“We need not to go to far places to avail of basic services. Not only it will save time, it will make the entire process smoother and more efficient,” said Cortes who graced the inauguration of the district office together with Mandaue Rep. Lollypop Ouano.
The old LTO-Mandaue district office was closed eight months ago when the mall where it was located changed ownership.
The new LTO-Mandaue district office is located on the third floor of Times Square 2 building in Barangay Tipolo.
Cortes said the location of the new district office is more strategic.
“This is a good location…right in the heart of the city. We want to thank the people who worked hard to make this a reality,” said Cortes.
Cortes noted that the district office is near the Cebu International Convention Center where the new Mandaue City Hall will soon rise.
LTO-7 Director Glen Galario said the LTO-Mandaue district office is one, if not the biggest, district offices in Central Visayas. “This is very spacious. I think we can accommodate 400 to 500 or even more clients a day,” said Galario.
There are 16 other LTO district offices in Central Visayas.
Galario admitted that Mandaue residents were affected by the closure of the old district office in the city.
He said it took time before the LTO-7 was able to reopen the Mandaue district office as there were too many documentary requirements to be complied with.
“They were really affected because they had to go to Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu, or Danao City just so they could process their driver’s application,” Galario said.
