In partnership with the DOLE-13 and the local government unit (LGU) of Nasipit, the awarding of livelihood assistance to TFA was witnessed by local and DOLE officials and the command group of 23rd IB in a ceremony in Barangay Aclan, Nasipit, on October 16.

The government assistance aims to provide and create more employment opportunities for TFA members, as well as indirect beneficiaries, and to supply the market with tilapia (Saint Peter’s Fish) of the highest possible quality.

Barangay officials led by Chairman Fernando P. Vicente thanked the DOLE-13 for providing livelihood assistance to the communities previously identified as former communist-influenced barangays.

The barangay official emphasized the significance of sustaining and maximizing the benefits of the program to enhance the income of the beneficiaries and urged them to take care of the assistance to fulfill its purpose on the local community.

The DILP or Kabuhayan program is the DOLE’s contribution to the government’s agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and substantial poverty reduction.

It also seeks to reduce the vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers by providing them access to grant assistance for capacity-building on livelihood ventures, either for individual or group undertakings.
