OFW nabbed for illegal possession of firearms


CAMP Marcelo Adduru, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police arrested a 56-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker for illegal possession of firearms in Villa Ventura, Aglipay, Quirino.

The suspect was identified as alias “Joven.”

Seized from the suspect were a caliber 8mm semi-auto firing pistol, a magazine for 8mm, and 31 blank caliber 8mm ammunition.

Suspect was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Joven is under the custody of the Aglipay police station for documentation and proper disposition.

The Police Regional Office-2 said there is no letup in the campaign against criminals.

“We, the Valley Cops, will double our efforts to apprehend lawbreakers. It is our responsibility to ensure the community's safety and to maintain peace and order in Region 2,” Police Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Birung, PRO-2 chief, said.
