Joy~Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila celebrated its 14th anniversary by partnering with Liter of Light to provide eco-friendly solar lighting solutions to the homes of Sitio Catmon 2 in Brgy. Wawa, Rizal.
The event, themed “One Four The Journey,” not only commemorates 14 years of hotel operations but also seeks to create a sustainable impact on the local community of a hundred households.

“This is a grassroots movement that is providing sustainable solar light,” shared Odette Huang, general manager of Joy~Nostalg Hotel.
Despite the growing demand for electricity, the nation continues to depend on its existing power plants to satisfy its expanding energy needs. This is where the Liter of Light comes into play.Liter of Light is a global grassroots movement offering affordable, quality solar lighting to those without electricity access, using readily available materials.

It provides clean and affordable energy by partnering with organizations such as Joy~Nostalg, other corporations, and individuals to build solar-powered lamps for a sustainable initiative.
The Roof, the 43rd floor of the Joy~Nostalg Hotel, then sprang to life with a burst of lights and bright-colored attires as attendees teamed up with the Liter of Light to assemble the solar-powered lamps.

One can also help an eco-conscious cause by pledging a Liter of Light kit at ₱1,800, which provides household lighting for five years.“
After five years, it can even be repaired so that it can live to as much as 10 years. [...] We are here to bring light to a lot of people and to illuminate lives in the future as well,” added Odette Huang.

The kit comes with a pre-assembled PVC lamp, a 2-watt solar panel, a battery, a pack of solar light components, and a screwdriver for assembling the solar-powered lamp.
All in all, if one aims to lend a hand, he or she may achieve a two-fold outcome by also integrating sustainability.
Amid the growing demand for environmental solutions, incorporating sustainable practices into celebrations, as demonstrated by Joy~Nostalg, can already help create an impact on today's climate emergency.
