Lady village chair hurt in Calbayog ambush

TACLOBAN CITY – A barangay chairwoman was wounded in an ambush in Calbayog City, Samar on Monday, October 2.

Police identified the victim as Susan Sumulong, 50, of Barangay Calocnayan, Seven Hills, Calbayog City.

Initial investigation said Sumulong was on board a pedicab around noon and upon heading reaching Rotonda in Barangay Obrero, she was shot in the back by an unidentified gunman.

Sumulong was wounded in the shoulder and the suspect fled in an unknown direction onboard a motorcycle.

She was taken to the Calbayog District Hospital.

Police are pursuing the suspect.
