Festive Faces exhibit unwraps in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – Fourteen meticulously crafted masks were displayed in an exhibit at the Art Cove of Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod to give a vibrant tribute to the MassKara Festival being celebrated throughout this month in this city.

Dubbed Festive Faces, the exhibit features the artwork of Bacolod’s renowned mask maker Jojo Vito.

Vito, along with former Bacolod Masskara queens Nicole Puentevella Uy and Agnes Chang and Councilor Israel Salanga, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, October 1.

“Each mask serves as a reflection of not only myself but also the diverse spectrum of humanity," Vito said.

The exhibit symbolizes the rich tapestry of human expressions, feelings, and experiences.

One of the standout pieces in this exclusive collection is the Haciendera Mask, an embodiment of luxury and opulence during the Negros' golden era with its vibrant red and gold hues.

Another, the Esmeralda Mask is inspired by the strength of the people here. This mask serves as a powerful symbol of resilience and equilibrium in the face of adversity.

The exhibit runs until November 19.
