DOH reports an 'increase' in daily infections with 1,231 new Covid-19 cases
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 1,231 new cases of Covid-19 for the reporting period of Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

These cases, DOH said, marked a six percent “increase” in the average daily incidence compared to the previous week from Sept. 18 to 24.
Based on the latest data available, eight of the newly reported cases have been classified as "severe or critical."
However, the DOH stated that there have been no recorded fatalities during the period from Sept. 18 to Oct. 1.
Moreover, as of Oct. 1, the Health Department reported that hospitals across the country had admitted a total of 189 severe and critical Covid-19 patients for treatment.
Among the 1,133 ICU beds as per the DOH designated for Covid-19 patients, 147 of them, equivalent to 13 percent, were currently occupied.
DOH also stated that 1,464 out of 9,008 non-ICU Covid-19 beds, constituting 16.3 percent, were in use.
Do not be complacent
Related to this, the DOH reminded the public not to become complacent in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 threat.
DOH stressed the importance of complying with public health standards, such as mask-wearing, seeking well-ventilated areas, and immediate isolation if symptomatic under Alert Level 1.
The DOH emphasized that vigilance and strict safety measures are essential in combating the spread of Covid-19 in the Philippines.
Vaccination updates
Meanwhile, the DOH noted that as of March 19, 2023, more than 78 million individuals in the country, exceeding the target population by 100.44 percent, have received Covid-19 vaccinations. (Zekinah Elize Espina)
