Bomb joke disrupts 11 flights at Bicol airport


At least 11 flights were affected by what airport authorities described as a bomb joke at the Bicol International Airport(BIA)  in Albay on Monday morning, Oct. 2.

Eric Apolonio, spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), said a bomb joke was made by one of the passengers while a Cebu pacific flight was still on the runway of the (BIA).

It was learned that a piece of paper was left at the lavatory of the airplane with the word bomb written on it. 

Apolonio said the cabin crew immediately informed the pilot of the incident and was later relayed to the BIA authorities.

As part of the protocol, the ruway was temporarily closed while the plane was also checked.

Apolonio said all the 130 passengers of the flight are now under investigation.

The BIA operation returned to normal at 2 p.m. on Monday.
