JG Summit Holdings, Inc. (JGSHI) President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lance Gokongwei has made a blood donation through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) during its blood donation drive.

PRC President and CEO Richard "Dick" Gordon expressed his appreciation to Gokongwei and all blood donors and emphasized the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply in the country as a vital requirement for a reliable public health infrastructure.
Meanwhile, PRC Secretary-General Gwen Pang underscored that the number of units of blood that is sufficient for the country's needs must be equivalent to one percent of its total population.
"The two organizations plan to hold the event at least twice annually thereafter," PRC said in a statement on Thursday, Oct. 19.
The PRC conducted a blood donation drive among workers of JGSHI and JG Summit Olefins Corp. (JGSOC) last Oct. 10 at the Robinsons Equitable Tower in ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center.
Meanwhile, PRC noted that individuals interested in donating blood must be between 16 to 65 years old.
For those aged 16 to 17, written consent from a parent or guardian is required to ensure participation.
Other qualifications are: "must weigh at least 50 kilograms (kg), or 110 pounds; must have at least five hours of sleep the night before; must have no alcohol intake in the last 24 hours; and must have eaten before donating but without fatty food intake."
Moreover, female donors who are in a monthly period during the day of their intended blood donation may still be eligible to donate after passing the standard screening process.
"A qualified person may donate blood every three months," the PRC said.
Furthermore, to request blood from the PRC, the humanitarian organization noted that "a hospital or doctor's request must be presented."
"The PRC also delivers blood to decrease the transport expenses of those in need; they must send the blood request through Viber and submit the original to the person delivering the blood,"
it added.
