The Department of Science and Technology, together with the Department of Education (DepEd), on Wednesday, Oct. 18 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a food manufacturer for this year's “Mega Bigay Sustansya” program to fight malnutrition among children.

Since 2022, the DOST, through its Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) has partnered Mega Prime Food Inc. (MPFI) to develop children malnutrition surveys and data results.
“We will be improving and innovating again,” DOST-FNRI Chief Science Research Specialist Milflor Gonzales said.
DOST pointed out that the collaboration will demonstrate a critical principle: addressing issues in education and health requiring coordinated and multi-stakeholder efforts.
Meanwhile, DepEd said the partnership aims to promote proper nutrition among children so they will be perform well in school.
“This partnership with Mega Prime Foods will not only promote better health among our learners but will also lay the foundation for positive learning gains,” DepEd Region VIII Director Evelyn Fetalvero said.
Marvin Tiu Lim said that through the partnership, MPFI is ready to provide and raise awareness of proper nutrition among parents and educators by offering nutritious meals, guiding meal planning, and promoting affordable yet healthy food choices. (Erika Mariel Custodio Escover)
