Thanks for lighting up Quezon Memorial Circle in blue --- Israeli envoy

Quezon Memorial Circle lighted up in blue—the color of the Israeli flag—to manifest the Quezon City government's solidarity with Israel.

The Embassy of Israel in the Philippines shared in a Facebook post a photo of the Quezon Memorial Circle illuminated in blue light to show support for Israel and its people.

“We thank Quezon City for showing their support by lighting up the Quezon Memorial Shrine in blue,” the embassy wrote on Wednesday, Oct. 19, with hashthags #StandWithIsrael #PhilippinesWithIsrael #QuezonCity.

This post was reshared by Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss who expressed his gratitude to Mayor Joy Belmonte as Quezon City stands in solidarity with Israel.

“Thank you Mayor Joy of Quezon City for this message of standing with Israel at this time. This is the time for friends to stand with each other. Salamat Mayor Joy Belmonte,” he said.

In his earlier post, the ambassador had suggested the Israeli flag to be flown in Metro Manila buildings in support of Israel following the Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that killed more than 1,400 people including four Filipinos.

Several Israeli allies around the world have illuminated landmarks and government buildings blue and white to show their support to Israel.

Among these are the Bradenburg Gate in Germany, Auckland War Memorial Museum in New Zealand, Greek Parliament building in Athens, Greece, and the White House and Empire State Building, both in the United States.

Israeli flags were also seen flown in front of the Czech Foreign Ministry building in Czech Republic and the European Commission headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
