SANTO NIÑO, Cagayan – Two members of the communist Militia ng Bayan turned themselves in recently in Barangay Niug Norte, this town.

TWO members of the communist Militia ng Bayan surrender in Cagayan, the Police Regional Office-2 said.
The police and military facilitated the surrender of alias “Buboy,” 55, and “Moira,” 54.
Buboy yielded one Norinco 1911 caliber .45 ACP pistol with one magazine and seven bullets.
Their surrender signifies the efforts of the government through strong ties between the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines to end insurgency in Region 2, said Police Regional Office-2 chief Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Birung.
“Unti-unti nang nauubos ang puwersa ng makakaliwang grupo. Isa itong patunay na nakikita at nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan ang tulong ng gobyerno upang mapaganda at mapabuti ang kanilang pamumuhay. I ask the other rebels to go back to fold of the government at tulungan kaming sugpuin ang suliranin sa insurhensiya (The Leftists are losing their strength, a proof that our countrymen are appreciating government efforts to give them a better life. I ask the other rebels to go back to the fold of the government and help us fight and solve the problem of insurgency),” Birung said.
