Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto asked her followers to stop commenting on social media about the movie of Superstar Nora Aunor entitled "Pieta" which was snubbed by the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.

On Facebook, Vilma thanked Vilmates (her followers) for defending her against nasty comments concerning the upcoming MMFF.

"Vilmates....STOP!" wrote Vilma on social media on Oct. 18.

She continued: "I understand my Vilmates!!! Maraming maraming salamat sa pagmamahal! Alam ko...pinagtatanggol ninyo ako sa mga masakit na salita nila! Salamat!

"Pero pagkatapos ... wag niyo na silang pansinin. Maybe they are hurting kaya wag niyo nang patulan! Ayaw ko din masasaktan kayo but let them be ... mas nagiisip ng maayos at maganda mas maayos at maganda ang balik sa kanya!

"We are blessed Vilmates! Pasalamat tayo! Enjoy life! Salamat sa pagmamahal! Love you all and see you guys soon! Salamat!"

The issue started after Ate Guy's movie failed to make it to this year's film festival, while Ate Vi's film "When I Met You In Tokyo" was selected as one of 10 official entries in this year's holiday film festival.

A supporter of Vilma commented: "Celebrate victory with respect towards others. We love Vilma Santos Recto to death, but we should have respect and boundaries towards others na kasamahan din ni Vilma Santos-Recto sa industriya. Love one another even when it is impossible to love them."

The rivalry between fans of Vilma and Nora peaked in the 1970s and continues to this day despite both stars still being active in showbiz.
