TACLOBAN CITY – A senior citizen was killed and his companion was wounded in a shooting incident in San Isidro, Leyte, on Tuesday, October 17.
The fatality was identified as Jerry Salidaga, 64, of San Isidro.
Police said Salidaga was driving his motorcycle with Sergio Aribado, 60, a teacher, also a resident of San Isidro, as back rider from the town proper heading home when two motorcycle-riding men appeared shot the victim in the head and body.

Salidaga fell to the ground while Aribado sustained minor injuries after he crashed to the ground.
The suspects fled to an unknown direction.
Victims were taken to a hospital in Calubian, Leyte where Salidaga was declared dead on arrival.
Police have yet to identify the suspects and determine the motive of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-8 (Eastern Visayas) on Wednesday, October 18, will send an initial batch of policemen to secure the third district of Leyte and first district of Samar following a series of shooting incidents.
Police Col. Salvador Alacyang, deputy regional director for operations of the PRO-8, said this is an initial deployment as there will be a simultaneous send-off ceremony nationwide on October 23.
"We should not wait for any eventuality to come. You will be deployed in the first district of Western Samar and third district of Leyte. These are the places that we need to watch," he told the troops.
