“Gaining experience will reduce your probability of error and you will be able to experience those problems firsthand without the risk of getting bankrupt.”

2. Find the right partner/s

The construction industry is a multifaceted field that demands expertise in various areas, from planning and design to execution and management. He highlighted the significance of finding the right partner or partners who excel in different aspects of construction.

He explained that the construction involves a wide variety of professionals. It's not just about plans and designs; it's much more complex than that. Collaborating with experts in different areas can significantly enhance your company's capabilities.

3. Have an iron-cladded heart

Novillos emphasizes that the construction industry is not for the faint of heart. It’s a career that demands unwavering determination and resilience. “This is not a typical job where you can take a leave whenever you want,” he cautioned. The potential for issues and challenges is limitless, and entrepreneurs in construction must be prepared to work long hours and deal with unpredictable problems, often with very little sleep.

4. Gain connections

To launch a successful construction company, having potential projects in the pipeline is essential. He advises aspiring entrepreneurs to build a network of connections within the industry to secure these prospects.

“Make sure that to open a construction company, you already have prospect projects. This will initiate fire to go further,” he said.

5. Find joy in the journey

While resilience and expertise are crucial, Novillos also underscored the importance of enjoying the journey. “Without passion for this industry burnout can happen quickly.” The construction field is inherently adventurous and challenging, and finding joy in the work is essential for long-term success.
