The NGCP is set to activate its quick response team on October 28 to check all transmission lines in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo.
“We will be checking for defects and what needs to be corrected,” said Lazaro dela Cruz Jr., NGCP Operations and Maintenance Senior Manager for District 4.
Dela Cruz also said that NGCP started preparatory works for the BSKE as early as last month. One of the key preparatory works is trimming of vegetation that has crawled up to its transmission lines.
The NGCP said it cannot exactly determine if there is stable power supply as it is only a transmission line or the link between power generators to power distributors in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo.
“We will endeavor to make sure that the delivery system is up and running,” said Cynthia Alabanza, NGCP assistant vice president for public relations.
Alabanza said that NGCP cannot guarantee if there is a power blackout, especially if the problem emanates from power plants.
