Filipino women’s group Gabriela on Wednesday, Oct. 18 denounced the Philippine government's decision to support Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas militants.

Gabriela said it continues to support the Palestinian people and their protracted "struggle for liberation and self-determination."
"The US-backed Israel state has committed thousands of war crimes against occupied Palestine, and they are further enabled by US puppets like the Philippine government," Gabriela secretary-general Clarice Palce said.
"In the face of the highest death toll from a single Israeli attack and rising tensions in the region, we believe that the Marcos Jr. admin who claim to represent millions of Filipinos must categorically denounce Israel’s cold-blooded murder of innocent civilians in Palestine and impose a moratorium on arms and trade deals with Israel," Palce added.
As a response to the attacks leaving three Filipinos dead among the thousands of people, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año said the Anti-Terrorism Council will place Hamas under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
"This was a deadly and barbaric terrorist assault on Israel targeting its civilian population and Israel has every right, as much as any nation, to defend and protect itself from this attack," Año said.
Earlier, President Marcos Jr. said that the Philippines will "always stand" with Israel against the "inhuman terrorist attacks" by Hamas.
On Wednesday, Gabriela said it will join different progressive groups to conduct an indignation rally in Quezon City in connection with Israel's acts of bombing the hospital in Gaza on Oct. 17. (Lizst Torres Abello)
