LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay” C. Suarez on Tuesday, October 17, urged residents here to elect the right candidates in the October 30 barangay elections.
Suarez said choosing the right leaders is necessary because the barangay is a very important unit of the local government.
He urged residents not to believe the promises of politicians who support a particular candidate. “If you make a mistake in choosing a candidate, you will regret it for two years,” Suarez warned.

Meanwhile, Suarez led the payout on Tuesday for 1,400 beneficiaries here of the Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
AICS is a joint initiative of the House of Representatives led by Speaker Martin Romualdez and the DSWD under Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
Suarez was assisted by Quezon Provincial Board member Ferdinand “Bong” Talabong.
The Quezon second district congressman pledged that he and his wife, ALONA party-list Rep. Anna V. Suarez, will deliver education, health, livelihood, basic social services, and infrastructure programs from the government.
He said the government has a lot of funds that should be spent on needy citizens.
Beneficiaries thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for bringing government services and assistance to residents, particularly in the second district of Quezon.
Suarez reminded the people that no AICS payouts will be held in this province starting October 19 until Election Day due to Commission on Elections prohibition.
AICS payout will again be held after the ban is lifted following the elections, he said.
