PH to host 2023 Global Research Council Asia Pacific Regional Meeting
The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology (DOST-PCIEERD) will host this year's Global Research Council (GRC) meeting for the first time as a nation and member from Oct. 18 to 20.

The GRC is a virtual organization consisting of the heads of science and engineering funding agencies worldwide with a mission to promote data sharing and best practices for high-quality collaboration among funding agencies worldwide.
GRC sessions
The first day of the meeting will center on sustainable research practices. Discussions will delve into three pillars of sustainable research, research ethics, and ethical considerations in technology transfer and commercialization.
On the second day, three working groups will be addressed, which are Multilateral Engagement, Responsible Research Assessment (RRA), and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).
These groups aim to drive collaboration, equitable research assessment, and inclusivity in the scientific community.
The day's agenda will also cover the GRC foresight report, open science and communication, and the GRC vision, roadmap, and way forward.
The event's final day will be dedicated to a transdisciplinary research side event and excursion, emphasizing the use of sustainability science for society through transdisciplinary research.
Through this three-day event, nations may network, and work together to tackle issues that could be addressed through cooperation, reduce wasteful duplication of effort, and create economies of scale.
This significant initiative would also expand public support for research and development and raise the bar for research through the GRC.
Furthermore, DOST is expecting 120 delegates from various countries in the Asia Pacific region, Europe, and Africa.
