The Aid to the Church in Need Philippines will lead the One Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The prayer initiative will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Pasig City and will be led by the students from Pasig Catholic College.
The 86 archdioceses and dioceses in the country are expected to join the simultaneous praying of the holy rosary.
Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas, in a video message, asked the faithful to pray the rosary for peace, healing and forgiveness of sins.
“On Oct. 18, 2023, I am appealing to all of you to come together to pray the rosary. Millions and millions of children all over the world will pray the rosary for world peace, for world healing, for the forgiveness of the sins of the world,” said Bishop Villegas in his message.
The prayer campaign comes at an opportune time as Church leaders call on the faithful to pray for peace and unity for an end to the ongoing conflict between Israel and the militant group Hamas.
The One Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign was launched in Caracas, Venezuela in 2005, and is observed annually in about 80 countries.
The Philippines joined the prayer initiative in 2016.
