Manila LGU provides free rides to over 6,600 passengers during 2-day transport strike
The city government of Manila announced on Tuesday, Oct. 17, that a total of 6,676 affected passengers were given free rides during the transport strike from Oct. 16 to 17.

It said that 5,465 passengers were offered free rides on Monday, Oct. 16, while 1,211 passengers were served on Tuesday.
For two days, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) offered free rides to 1,057 passengers; the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) served 5,304; and the Manila Police District (MPD) accommodated 315 passengers.
Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan personally monitored on Monday the areas where the city's free ride operation was conducted.
The city government said that the Manila DRRMO used 20 electric tricycles (e-tric), three sports utility vehicles (SUV), and two mobile transport vehicles, while MPD used two MPD transporters and 16 patrol vehicles to help the stranded commuters.
The areas that were monitored were San Juan to Divisoria, Blumentrit to Novaliches, Nagtahan to Paco, Divisoria to Cubao, Morayta to Divisoria, and Balic Balic to Quiapo.
Manila DRRMO reported on Tuesday that it monitored the route and served stranded commuters from Onyx to Padre Faura and Nagtahan to Paco, while MPD and MTPD from A. Franciso to Padre Faura, and Paco to Rotonda.
