Duterte reaffirms DepEd's efforts to ensure delivery of quality education during Cebu school visit
Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte reaffirmed the continued efforts of the DepEd to ensure the delivery of quality education to all Filipino learners.

“Tuloy ang pagsisikap ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon na tiyakin na ang bawat mag-aaral sa Pilipinas ay magkaroon ng dekalidad na edukasyon at magandang kinabukasan na nauukol sa kanila (The Department of Education's efforts to ensure that every student in the Philippines receives quality education and a bright future that suits them continue),” Duterte said in a Facebook post on Oct. 16.
Duterte serves as Education Secretary in a concurrent capacity. She visited the OPRRA National High School in Cebu City.
Duterte said the visit to OPPRA NHS aimed to inspire hope and raise awareness among youth aspiring for a brighter future.
“Pinaalala namin ang halaga ng edukasyon sa pagsugpo ng kahirapan (We reminded them of the importance of education in combating poverty),” she said. “Ang kaalaman, ay ang susi sa tagumpay at pag-unlad ng kanilang buhay at ng kanilang mga minamahal (Knowledge is the key to success and the betterment of their lives and their loved ones),” she added.
During the school visit, Duterte encouraged teachers to continue motivating students to work hard and achieve their educational goals.

Duterte, during the school visit, also discussed various concerns with the principal of OPRRA NHS.
OPPRA NHS currently has 1,405 students for the School Year (SY) 2023-2024.
“Nagpapatupad ng day and night shifting classes, para makapasok pa rin sa gabi ang mga mag aaral na working student (We learned that the school is implementing day and night shifting classes to allow working students to attend classes in the evening),” Duterte shared.
During the school visit, Duterte also led the distribution of “Pagbabago bags,” containing school supplies and dental kits, to Grade 7 and Grade 8 students. This, she said, is part of the "PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign" initiated by the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Duterte said that school visits are part of the efforts of DepEd to inspire and promote progress in the education sector.
