DTI-8 earns P45 M in Bahandi Eastern Visayas trade fair


TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-8 earned over P45 million in the five-day Bahandi Eastern Visayas Trade Fair at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City recently.

Sales were 29 percent higher than the P35-million target.

The trade fair brought producer-exhibitors from all six provinces in the region to institutional buyers where enterprises had the opportunity to expand their market and explore new partnerships and collaboration.

The province of Leyte earned  P17.03 million, followed by Samar with P8.2 million, Northern Samar with P8.04 million, and Eastern Samar with over P5 million.

Borongan City in Eastern Samar earned P542,690, with P159,080 from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and booked orders worth P383,610.

The city featured San Gabriel Farmers ARB Cooperative, Samu’t-Sari Creative Enterprises, Kimdrew’s Food Products, MariaQel Handy Crafts, and Anki Food Products.

Biliran and Southern Leyte earned P3.7 million and P3 million, respectively.

Twenty-eight exhibitors from Northern Samar offered a glimpse into the province, its cultural abundance, and great economic potential through their food, handicrafts, and other souvenir items.
