Comelec disqualifies candidate for barangay chairman in Taguig

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified a candidate for barangay chairman in Taguig for the Oct. 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

The Comelec issued the names of seven candidates who have been disqualified for various reasons.

One of the disqualified candidates is Benedicto Santos Jr., who is running for barangay chairman in Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig.

According to the Comelec, Santos was declared a nuisance candidate in a decision promulgated last Oct. 13.

“Declared as a Nuisance Candidate due to the intention to cause confusion among the voters by using a nickname similar to the nickname of another candidate in the same position,” according to the Comelec.
