Led by H.E. Amb. Huang Xilian, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the Republic of the Philippines celebrated the anniversary of the founding of the PRC by hosting a dinner held at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-la The Fort at BGC. The national day event commemorated the 74th anniversary of the PRC.
It was an opportunity to renew diplomatic relations and to celebrate goals, as Amb. Huang notes in his speech, for a “shared future,” which translates to stronger cooperation in four key areas with the Philippines. He spoke about deeper partnerships in “agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and people-to-people exchanges,” which was discussed during the visit of President Bongbong Marcos to China earlier this year.
“[President Marcos and President Xi Jinping] believe that our relations should not be defined by the South China Sea issue, the disputes of which must be properly managed through friendly consultations,” Amb. Huang adds. “We have always adhered to the path of peaceful development.”
The People’s Republic of China was founded on Oct. 1, 1949.
