BI coordinates with 3 countries for 'data sharing' vs fugitives
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Tuesday, Oct. 17, that it has already coordinated with three countries for "data sharing" to prevent the entry of foreign fugitives in the Philippines.

During the first year anniversary of the Manila City Hall Reporter's Association's (MACHRA) "Balitaan sa Harbor View", Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that they proposed the data sharing to get hold of any information regarding the foreign nationals who have pending cases in their respective countries and are also considered flight risks.
He did not disclose the countries they have already coordinated with.
Tansingco also said that the proposed data sharing will be a big help to the Philippines and the other countries in the campaign against fugitive foreigners.
"Para hindi na sila makapasok (To prevent fugitives from entering the country). Makakatulong ito sa ating bansa, makakatulong din sa kanilang bansa (It will help our country and the other countries)," he said.
The BI chief said that their proposal will enable them to stop right away foreign fugitives from evading the laws in their countries.
He noted that there are around 157 countries whose nationals are allowed to enter the Philippines without the need for a visa.
He said that once the BI completes a record of the fugitives, they would be able to immediately block them from entering the Philippines.
