Transport strike fails to make big impact in Muntinlupa
The transport strike launched by a group opposing the phaseout of jeepneys had minimal effect in Muntinlupa.
This was according to Mayor Ruffy Biazon based on reports from different areas in Muntinlupa.

Biazon decided not to suspend classes in Muntinlupa after consulting with national and local government agencies including the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau.
“According to reports from the field, the transport strike had minimal impact on the people’s mobility and the conduct of daily business of the city,” Biazon told the Manila Bulletin on Oct. 16.
He said the minimal effect “was anticipated, based on the assessment of national government agencies in consultation with the transport sector and the LGUs [local government units].”
The Muntinlupa City government put its vehicles on standby to be used in case commuters needed help.
“Nevertheless, we made preparations in case the situation turned out differently. This goes to show that through information gathering, analysis and consultation, we can make decisions that address the circumstances of the situation,” said Biazon.
