Rizal LGU: Public vehicles available to ferry commuters
The Rizal provincial government on Monday, Oct. 16, assured that there are enough public vehicles available to ferry stranded commuters after the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) and Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (Manibela) pushed through with their transport strike in protest of the mandatory franchise consolidation of jeepneys.

"Bagamat may nangyayaring malawakang transport strike ngayong araw, Oct. 16, 2023, madaming mga transport groups na nagkumpirmang hindi sila sasali sa transport strike (Despite the region-wide transport strike today, Oct. 16, 2023, many transport groups confirmed their non-participation in the strike)," Rizal Gov. Nina Ynares said.
"Sa pagtutulungan ng mga local government units (LGUs) at mga transport groups dito sa Rizal, nasisiguro na sapat ang availability ng ating mga Public Utility Vehicles tulad ng Point-to-Point buses, UV Vans, at FX upang pagserbisyuhan ang mga Rizalenyo na papasok sa trabaho o sa paaralan (In coordination with the LGUs and transport groups here in Rizal, we assure the availability of our Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) such as Point-to-Point buses, UV Vans, and FX to serve Rizalenyos going to and from their work and school)," she added.
The governor explained that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave assurance that most transport groups in the country, especially in Metro Manila, will not join the strike and will continue to serve commuters.
"Kung sa tingin ng mga eskwelahan (private or public) na maapektuhan sila ng nasabing strike, may karapatan pa din mag suspend ng klase ang pamunuan ng mga eskwelahan (If schools feel that they will be affected by the transport strike, they have the choice to suspend their classes)," Ynares noted.
