The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Oct. 16 said rain showers will prevail across the country due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), northeasterly surface wind flow, and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the trough or extension of the LPA outside the country’s area of responsibility will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan.
Meanwhile, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow, or the initial blast of cold breeze from the northeast.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina said the country is currently in transition to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” season.

PAGASA said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
The public is also warned of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. (Lizst Torres Abello)
