The Pasay City police provided assistance to commuters affected by the strike staged by transport group Manibela in the city on Monday, Oct. 16.
According to city police chief, Col. Froilan Uy, as early as 6:00 a.m. all police personnel were already monitoring their areas to assist commuters who will be stranded due to transport strike.
Uy said the police also provided security and other public safety services to ensure the peaceful conduct of the transport strike.
He said that based on the monitoring conducted by all police substations in the city, the transport strike in the city was peaceful.
The city police chief said the city government also prepared the “Sagip Sakay” program to assist passengers who will be stranded.
The city government deployed two buses, 10 L300 van, and 10 E-trikes in front of the Pasay City Hall.
Members of the Traffic Parking and Management Office (TPMO) were also ordered to immediately coordinate with the police in case an untoward incident is reported during the conduct of the strike.
